Copying Moulds

Unread postby GarryRussell » Fri Mar 06, 2015 2:45 pm

Many FROG moulds are missing and it's often said that sadly no more of these models will ever be made

Yet, some copies of moulds appear. I have a Caravelle that is obviously a cloned Airfix.

So, given an unmade model of, say, the Viscount still exists, can the parts not be turned into a new mould via a Pantograph or whatever the method used is.

Moulds do get copied, yet no one seems to think of this as a means to restore the missing kits.

Am I missing something?

Interesting idea! It is alleged that is what Airfix did with the famous BT-K Spitfire (they pantographed it from 1/48 t0 1/72). I would be interested to see the "Caravelle" you have. I suspect it is the Frog/Novo version.

Thanks for the interesting post
