Securing control surfaces so avoiding breakages

Unread postby NewtAndToad » Tue Sep 16, 2014 1:47 pm

I remember ailerons, elevators and rudders breaking off (mostly held in place with two pins to the tailplane/wings.

Have you any suggestions for strengthening these attachments?

I thought about filing a concave groove in the tailplane/wings then use superglue.

Any suggestions welcome.

Drill holes into the control surfaces where the plastic pins were or where they were cut off and insert short lengths of straight pin or wire to replace the pins and use CA to fasten them.

Adios, Larry.

Thats good advice from Larry, I use short lengths of paperclip inserted into 1mm holes for strengthening joins/ splinting broken axles etc & held in place with CA, works a treat.

The old ways are always the best....... I used the paper clip trick to replace broken U/C legs. Does anybody know of other ways?
