Flies right off the modelling table

Unread postby gengriz » Mon Aug 29, 2011 12:38 pm

OK, here are my built collection. Some oldies, some news. Some FROGspawn. Some photoshopping too.

The Sea Vixen is the oldest FROG in my collection. I bought this from Capital Models in Edinburgh, the very week that FROG went bust. Its been repainted several times and by no means the best of my builds, but it has sentimental value, so I photoshopped it to resemble the superb phot of G-FOXY during the Fly Navy 100 celebrations in 2009:

Another Sea Vixen, this time combined with the Magna conversion to an FAW.1:

Sea Venom - actually a Russian re-pop with original transfers. I have another original in the stash:

Supermarine Attacker with Modeldecal markings and Falcon canopy:

Image

Fairey Swordfish - with MPM resin (2 more in stash):

Image

Fairey Shark (one more in stash):

Image

Blackburn Skua - 2nd oldest in the collection:

Image

Fairey Barracuda with Techmod decals (2 more in stash)

Image

Fairey Firefly - with Falcon canopies

Image

Grumman Wildcat - suitably photoshopped:

DeHavilland Hornet - converted to Sea Hornet:

Fairey Gannet:

Fairey Gannet AEW - using ID Vacform conversion:

Fairey Delta:

Miles Master Mk III:

Image

Grumman A-6A Intruder - with after market decals and a few tweaks to make it an A-6E, plus some photoshopping:

F-100 Super Sabre:

Mirage IIIAO:

Thats all the built ones - the stash includes a Canberra, Shackleton, Arado 234, many Barracudas, several Hellcats, several MC202 Folgore, several Bf-109s, a Typhoon, a Vampire, several Sea Venom re-pops, more Sea Vixens, a Beaufighter, Blenheim, Swordfish, Avenger, Bearcat, Tempest, LaGG, Maurauder, Vengeance, Wessex, Lynx, Shark, Skyhawk, Baltimore, several Gannets and a FROG Penguin replica Osprey.............

Phew!

Nice additions. I especially like the Frog Buccaneer. Looks great. Any tips on building it?

Those are really nice Fred. I've seen most of them before on your website & really enjoyed them being a FAA nut myself. Out of all of them, the only real clunker to my mind is the Skua, even your skils can't disguise how awful this kit is. ;)

That's a huge improvement on this old girl Fred. She might still have skinny wings but your modelling skills have restored her dignity a treat.

Stunning in every way Fred. One thing you show with the better & not so better (ie Skua) Frog models is that with careful modelling they can come up really well, to my eye anyways.
