F415 P-39 Aircobra

Unread postby wannsee » Fri Feb 28, 2014 9:02 pm

Gentlemen

Found here in Ukraine today (Yep still fighting) a Fake Novo P-39 in 2 colour plastic plus a free instrument panel. All for the grand price of £2.20 The packaging is plain white with a Colour print stuck on the top. Interestingly the instruction sheet shows it came from a factory in Baku Azerbaijan. Other models seen include the S6b, Vampire and Southern Cross.
I have attached a couple of illustrations to show that the mould is looking tired by the amount of flash.

Translation from the instruction sheet:
Light Industry Department, Soviet Socialist Republic Azerbaijan
Baku Toy Factory
Baku city, 2 Alakava
F-415 Plane “Aerocobra” Constructor Set
Product Identification Number 085-365
Azerbaijan SSR Industry Standard 17-108-86
Technical Department 17 Azerbaijan SSR 05-571-88

QC stamp

Latest update 10.04.14.....With the Ukrainian currency going bust the price is now just over £1.00 If it goes on this way this will be the cheapest model around. Yes I am going to try and buy up as many as possible.Watch this space

I'd be interested in a couple. If I'm not mistaken the drawing of the P-39 appeared on the front cover of the 1974 Frog catalogue, I think I have it somewhere. :D

Here is a sprue-shot of the P-39 that I bought on e-bay. Check the "Missing Molds" sub-forum. I have posted two shots of the finished model.

Adios, Larry.
